Dear Poachers,
I firmly recommend you to stop the deadly slaughter of endangered wildlife animals, such as the Rhinos, Tigers, and Elephants. The hunting you do is illegal and the population of these animals are declining faster than you think. I understand that some of you may do it for a sport or benefit from this by getting important resources from these animals but killing and wiping out the entire population of these wildlife animals isn't right. Millions of animals get killed every year because of people like you and they can become extinct. According to this NBC Nightly news video, 35,000 elephants get killed every year in Africa since 2010. Three or more rhinos are poached every day for their horns and tigers are also decreasing in numbers every day. Wiping out these animals' existence can mess up the way of nature and disrupt wildlife patterns. Everything has its order and way of things. Animals are important and they have a place on this Earth the same way as we do.
Lets think of it like this. We, as humans, are no different from these animals. Humans are some form of animal status, even though we may not interact and behave like them. What if it was the other way around and they hunted and purposely killed us for a sport? What if someone broke into your house one day and killed your beloved pet because they got a lot of money from doing so or your pet had a valuable resource the person could have used? How would you feel? Poaching is the same concept. You are going into the animals territory and illegally killing them because of money, and their resources. Whether you want to think of it like this or not, these animals have families just like we do. They have young to take care of and they are capable of loving too.
Also what I've learned from this Anti Poaching Course is that there are different types of poaching. The first type of poaching is called Subsistence Poaching, which dealt with the killing of Rhinos by people who lived in communities near by the reserves. People would kill Rhinos, as well as other animals to feed their families and to make medicine. Rhino horns are believed in some cultures to cure sickness and disorders, which bring them at high demand. The second type of poaching is called Structured or Commercial Poaching. This type of poaching is responsible for most of the animals death and the poachers are criminals who are involved in high risk criminal activity such as this.. These poachers are usually in groups of four to six members and they carry heavy guns such as AK47s to do the job. The main reason for this is to make money and to sell the important body parts of the animals in the market. The third type of poaching is more professional and it is known as Syndicate Poaching. This type of poaching is organized and well put together. It's basically a network of individuals who are funded by this type of action. These individuals have extensive military background and knowledge to do deed. Helicopters or small planes are used to fly above the prey and the poachers will use darts, explosives and or rifles. Regardless of what type of poacher you are and how you get it done, poaching is still wrong and upsetting.
The methods of poaching that you guys use to capture these animals are horrendous. Snare wires, spears and dogs, trap nets, and pitfalls, not only kill the animals but are extremely painful to them. The Snare wires you use are tied to trees and capture the poor animals around their neck or leg. The pitfall traps you use , sometimes have sharp sticks in them for when the animals fall in , they are instantly killed. How can you be so malicious? How can you live with what you are doing? After taking the bones, horns, or fur from the animal, you leave them to die and get devoured by other animals. Sometimes they are just left to bleed out. This type of torture is unacceptable and there must be other ways to get the resources needed. Elephants, Rhinos, and Tigers are suffering because of this heartless act made by you. Poaching's have increased every year due to you, and every minute the animals become close to extinction. According to this website, 749 Rhinos have been captured and killed alone in 2015.
Please, stop illegally poaching these innocent and endangered animals. I hope one day society realizes and takes great action against illegal wildlife trade. Organizations such as the World Wildlife Fund and the Big Life Foundation have already taken a stand against illegal wildlife trade. What you are doing, is illegal and I am pretty sure that you are aware of your crimes. I have already taken a pledge to the World Wildlife Fund organization to help protect endangered animals and to stop poachers like you. Anti Poaching efforts are being made and enforced every day to stop people like you. I hope one day, people like you realize how harmful and wrong it is to kill these animals just for money. These animals are beautiful and majestic and they deserve to live in peace just as much as we do. We need to protect our endangered species instead of killing them off. I hope you guys find it in your hearts to stop this vicious act and learn to love these animals.
Try to find other ways of getting money. Don't live your life killing other living things like these animals, especially for a sport. That is what I can not understand. Why would you just kill for a sport, just because its something to do? Sounds like more of a mental issue than a "fun sport." I'm positive there are other ways to enjoy your day and other sports to participate in. Respect these animals and be against poaching instead.
Sincerely,
Cyrena Chin
